Have the recommended tests performed locally in New York. These results will be reviewed by your Aevitas Fertility Doctor.

Step 3:

Which South African Laws should I be aware of relating to fertility?

There are several important South African laws that pertain to assisted human reproduction:

Donor Eggs & Sperm: The donation of eggs and sperm in South Africa is anonymous and donors may only be compensated for their time (this arrangement is managed directly between the clinic and the donor, in accordance with national guidelines). Known egg and sperm donations are permitted but do require additional legal steps.

Pre-Implementation Genetic Testing (PGT): It can be used to screen embryos for chromosomal abnormalities and specific genetic conditions—including identifying the sex of embryos. Sex selection is legal in South Africa and a service which can be provided by Aevitas.

Posthumus IVF: Unless specifically stipulated in their will, South African law does not permit the use of a deceased partner's sperm or eggs for IVF.
